Funny thing, reading an email today of someone who basically stated that they don't believe in resolutions, that instead, they make goals. Seriously made me start thinking. (Thanks, thanks a lot!) I admit I have made resolutions in the past, and failed to achieve them. 2011 was the first year I didn't make a resolution. Why? Let me explain. For the last several years, the only thing I said was "This will be the year I finally find my mother". Funny thing, the year I gave up on my quest was the year I found her. Long story short, I wrote her and received no answer. Wow! Completely blew my mind. Made me question my self worth, and it just wasn't a pretty picture. A wrecking ball at a demolition site was much nicer than my own experience with that situation. So, with that in mind, this year I plan on a different approach. My main goal is to be myself. Why? Because I'm awesome! And I'm worth it, and well, I'll come up with some other reasons, but my mind is simply drawing a blank at the moment. Anyhoo, my goals are as follows:

1. Be myself! (my biggest priority!!!)
2. More Sparkles (I don't really know what this means, but I'm trying to be creative here)
3. Write!
4. Start my book (I'm a dream writer ~ No, I don't write about dreams, I dream about writing, and this is the year I WILL get started, even if I drive myself crazy)
5. Start my wall project. (The idea is stuck in my head, ever growing, and it's not allowed to hang out there anymore!)
6. Keep a log of some kind (Well, technically, it was a blog started in 2011, but we'll see how it pans out ;)
7. Finish "Wreck this Journal" project
8. Read 10 biographies

There might/might not be more...only time will tell. But for now, this is a good starting point. What did you decide on?

  1. Well- It looks like I am your first follower (if the follower box is working correctly). Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

I think this is a great post! Sorry to hear about you mother- she doesn't know what she is missing. I love your goals- especially the sparkle one. It just sounds fun! Also- good luck making your dream a reality. Start writing your book- you never know where it will take you! Also- you are already working on your blog- so you are working on those goals.

    I hope you have a fabulous 2012!!

  2. Congrats on being the first! Apparently I have stalkers that swoop in to view, but not leave a trace. It's just fine with me though :) The sparkle goal was my favorite as well. I don't know how it's going to go, but, we'll see. I have a whole year to turn sparkly. Thanks for stopping by and joining!
